About Obra Loci

Obra Loci means “work of the place.” It’s the idea behind everything we design: architecture should belong to its site, its climate, and its culture. It echoes the concept of genius loci, the unique spirit of a place, and it’s why no two of our projects look alike.

As a Miami-grown boutique studio, we design with South Florida in mind from the first sketch. That means responding to the sun, the heat, the storms, and the character of each neighborhood, whether through local materials and proven construction methods or through sustainable strategies suited to our climate. The goal is a building that is functional and beautiful, and that feels as though it has always belonged where it stands.

Understanding a place takes the right tools

To design well for a place, you have to understand it precisely. We pair local experience with technology that lets us see each site clearly.

• Drone technology gives us an aerial view of the site, roof, and surroundings, so we can understand context, orientation, and existing conditions before design begins.

• BIM (Building Information Modeling) lets us design in a coordinated 3D model. We can study how a building sits on its site, test options early, and resolve conflicts before they reach construction.

• Photography documents each project from existing conditions through the finished work. It helps us capture the character of a place at the start and show you how the finished project honors it.
